CARAD is lucky to have so many dedicated, talented, and passionate volunteers! This month our VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT is on Chris Williamson. This is what she has to say about her time with CARAD.
I have been volunteering with CARAD for about three years. I work in the office once a week and visit our clients at the Yongah Hill Detention Centre.
I joined CARAD because I felt sad and helpless about the way our asylum seekers and refugees were being treated. My decision to join was my way of dissipating that feeling of powerlessness. I wanted to be helpful in a positive way, and volunteering made me feel like I was doing the right thing.
Three years on, I am still volunteering at CARAD because the people are fantastic. There’s so much good will and warmth amongst the staff, volunteers, and clients that I look forward to visiting every time.
