The Margaret River Community is going all out this year for Refugee Week (18th – 25th June) by taking on Margaret River Rations Challenge being organised by Amnesty Margaret River.
An enthusiastic group of 30+ Margaret River locals, including Shire President Ian Earl have signed up for the challenge to live on the same rations issued by the UN to refugees in a Syrian refugee camp for five days: Rice 300 gm, Lentils, 120 gm, Dried Chick Peas 60 gm, Tinned Sardines 90 gm, Tinned Kidney Beans 285 gm, Flour 250 gm, Vegetable Oil 215 ml
The Rations Team have set the bar high by attempting to raise $5,000 to assist CARAD with their dedicated efforts to help refugees and asylum seekers who are without any financial and family support in Perth.
No alcohol and coffee is allowed! Being the inaugural Amnesty Margaret River Rations Challenge, allowances will be made for the odd ‘slip up’ so that team members can continue with their challenge by paying a fine, paid either by the participant or a sponsor. Fines will go towards the collective target of $5,000.
Riverfresh IGA are generously sponsoring the rations kits. Entry Fees $25 (which includes the rations kit).
